INDEPENDENT LIVING CENTRE (ILC) ACT

Independent Living Centres are information resource centres for assistive technology. Each centre displays a comprehensive range of products and equipment to assist with daily living activities. Everybody is welcome to use the ILC services, including people with disabilities, older people, their carers, parents, advocates and other service providers, health professionals, architects, builders, suppliers, manufacturers and students. You can try out products and equipment and select those most suitable prior to purchase. Please note that we do not sell items, we only display them.
Each centre has a localised products and equipment database to complement the display. The occupational therapists on our info-lines use this database to provide information that is relevant to the individual caller’s needs. You can use our info-line services by phone, fax or email. Most of the ILC services are free to the public.

LIFETEC (ILC) QLD

LifeTec Queensland provides information and advice on assistive technology and design to promote independent living and improve quality of life. We work in partnership with a range of complementary organisations to provide innovative solutions for people who wish to maintain existing or achieve greater independence.
A clear global trend is emerging to use "Assistive Technology" as the preferred term for the devices and systems that were traditionally know as aids and equipment. This includes items such as wheelchairs, computer access equipment, aids for daily living and advice on design to assist people to be safer in their own homes.

NORTHCOTT COMPUTER ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY SERVICES (CATS)

The Computer Assistive Technology Services (CATS)provides information, advice and support regarding assistive technology options for people with disabilities. Assistive technology offers people with disabilities increased independence in the areas of computer access, communication and access to everyday appliances at school, home and work. CATS offers a range of services for adults and children with a range of disabilites. CATS offers assessment sessions, rural visits across NSW, training and workshops, an information service and a technology loan pool. CATS also has regular tours which provide an overview of assistive technology. Fees apply for assessment sessions, comprehensive reports, training and equipment loan.

NSW MEALS ON WHEELS ASSOCIATION

Meals on Wheels services are operated by a combined paid and volunteer workforce, delivering meals to frail aged people, people with a disability, and their carers. The service provides crucial support for people who need assistance with meals but want to live independent lives in their own homes. The NSW Meals on Wheels Association is the peak body for Meals on Wheels services across the state. We exist to provide support and resources to our members.

TECHNICAL AID TO THE DISABLED (TAD) NSW

TAD make and supply custom designed aids for people with disabilities, loan computers for a small annual fee and provide information on aids and technology as well as previous technical solutions and allied technology through a lending library and free internet access. They also have volunteer speakers to speak to community groups about their work. Where no suitable commercial products are available TADNSW creates or modifies equipment for people with a disability. Devices are made by volunteers to keep costs to a minimum. Donated computers and ancillary equipment are also loaned to clients and maintained for a minimal annual fee.
